No MOT Extension for the Second Lockdown

We're permitted to remain open -

Since our latest Blog post on the second lockdown that takes place from the 5th November 2020 to the 2nd December 2020, the Government have released more details about which businesses can stay open. The Government in a recent update have noted that 'car repairs and MOT Stations' are 'permitted to stay open, following COVID-19 Secure guidelines.

As a business that provides essential services, CNB MOTs are proud to continue operating during this period. We would highly recommend that you book your MOT prior to visiting our garage as your confirmation email will be used as evidence of a qualifying 'specific purpose' for leaving home.

There will be NO EXTENSION to your MOT expiry date for this period -

It is important to note that if your vehicle is due for an MOT between the lockdown period of 5th November 2020 to 2nd December 2020, you must get your MOT test. The Government have NOT announced a further extension and we believe they are unlikely to do so.

So, even if you are not driving your vehicle and your MOT expiry is due, you will need to have an MOT test to remain road legal. This includes if you have left your vehicle on the public highway.

Alternatively, if you anticipate you will not be using your car for an extended period, please declare your vehicle SORN. You can do this by applying online through the Gov.uk website. For more details on how to declare your vehicle as SORN, see here.

We're COVID-19 safe -

We would just like to remind all customers that they can be assured that CNB MOTs are COVID-19 safe. We have taken a number of measures to ensure that both our staff and customers are protected.

For more information on the measures that we're taking, please visit our dedicated page on being COVID safe. If you do have any concerns, please give us a call and we will be happy to assist you.
